Notes:
Aestheticom approached me with an interesting dilema--they were very interested in having me direct the Dragonlord video, except that the video had already been shot as a live performance from one of their shows. Since the performance part had already been done, I decided to create bookends for the video, something that would open the video and something to use as a finale.
Shot in one day on a shoestring budget, we produced a terrifying scenario where a young man finds himself as the subject of a bizarre experiment involving the Dragonlord footage, several vampish women and a lot of sharp medical devices.

Notes:
I was originally hired as a concept artist to create a room/chamber and monster for the film's new climatic ending. As the work progressed, Pearry and Keith decided to bring me on as the Production Designer for the entire reshoot schedule where I oversaw the construction of both the chamber/monster scene, newly added shower and alley scenes, consulted with the makeup department for the makeup FX on the Aerynn Flyer character and worked with the Art Department to recreate sets used on the previous production.
After production wrapped, I was also asked to take the still photography I had shot and use that to create a series of promotional posters, some of which can be seen in my Art section.
THE GENE GENERATION is scheduled for a Summer 2006 release.

Following THE GENE GENERATION, director Pearry Teo brought me back on board to do production design for a music video he was producing that would tie in to his movie. Directed by up-and-coming Swedish filmmaker Agata Alexander, the video was intended to have a similar aesthetic to what we had done on THE GENE GENERATION. Shot on location at Linda Vista Hospital in downtown L.A., I was responsible for creating a brutal atmosphere that would complement both the song and the movie. Using discarded machinery and junked parts, we built a caged area where the band could perform their bloody anthem.
In addition to the caged arena, we also used props I had designed for GENE GENERATION--namely the Josephine monster and two "life support" machines--to dress up a "puppet room" where singer Andy mercilessly torments a young victim.
In addition to these performance pieces, I also helped handle wardrobe and casting to bring a cohesive feel to the video.

Notes:
I had worked with Nathan as a still photographer on a number of his videos. For the Rasmus video, he wanted to take things a step further and have me photograph elements that would be incorporated into the video itself as props. He also had me take photos from the video and do some conceptual compositing which was later handed off to a Visual FX house to recreate as CGI for warping certain elements within the video.

Notes:
For this video, director Nathan Cox needed imagery that could be projected onto a large screen behind the band as they performed. At the time of the assignment, the theme of video had not yet been decided upon, so I created several hundred images that could be used.
In the end, an abstract sky image and some custom-made circus stripes made the cut.
